How To Date Your Fred Bear Bow

Since we have the opportunity to sell a lot of different items through our eBay Drop Off Store, certain things start to stick out that seem to sell extremely well. One item that sticks out are the vintage BEAR Recurve Bows.

7 1 4 Saw

Recently on an out of town trip we stopped by an antique store like we usually do and saw this recurve bow in the corner. Since we were already somewhat familiar with how well bows have sold from selling them for a client we naturally gravitated to it. It looked to be in excellent condition and came with a quiver and 3 different sets of arrows. The asking price was 0.00 and we ultimately got all of it for .00.

7 1 4 Saw

Based on the dating procedures listed below we determined that this was a Fred Bear Kodiak Recurve bow from 1965 in excellent condition. It was a 60" bow with a 44# pull.

After we got the bow to our store we noticed that inside the big quiver was a smaller single quiver. Based on a light embossed marking on this smaller, leather quiver that we pulled out we were able to date it to the late 1940's.

We decided to break this up into 3 different auctions and started all three at .99. The results of the auctions are listed at the end of this article.

DATING YOUR FRED BEAR BOW

There are several features and changes that were made to the bear bows over the years that will help narrow the age of your bow or your potential investment.

1. The Serial Number: These bows usually have, what appears to be a hand inscription on one of the limbs that gives a serial number along with the length and pull weight of the bow. This serial number works very well for dating Bear Bows from 1965-1969 when the first digit of the serial number is the year of manufacture.

For example, a serial number of 5L212 would be a 1965 Bow.

Prior to 1965, the serial numbers for all Bear bows were started over every month, making these bows almost impossible to date by serial number alone. The "K" series of serial numbers (for example KZ9672) were started in 1970.

2. Patent Mark: Most of the BEAR Bows we have sold have the logo and the US Patents printed on it along with the date of CANADA 1953. This date that is printed on all bows made between 1953 and 1972 is simply the date of the patent for a working recurve limb and has nothing to do with the actual model year.

3. Decals & Silkscreening: In 1948 the small Running Bear decal was first and then was replaced by the large Standing Bear decal in mid-1953. The large Standing Bear decal also has the words "Glass Powered Bow" under the Standing Bear.

The large Standing Bear decal was used until 1955 when it was replaced with silk-screening the identification on the bows. By 1956 the silk-screening appeared on all bows.

4. All Wood vs Laminate: If your bow is ALL wood (no laminations of any kind) then your bow had to be made before the mass productions beginning in 1949.

If the ALL wood bow has a stamp that reads "Bear Products" in some form it would have been made before the early to mid 40's. If it is stamped "Bear Archery" it would have been made AFTER the early-mid 40's and BEFORE 1949. Also wooden bows with a small "Running Bear" decal can be dated to 1948 5. The Leather Grip: ALL Bear bows had leather grips until 1959. In 1959, the Kodiak Special removed the leather grip and in 1961 the Kodiak did the same, as well as the Grizzly in 1964.

6. The Coin Medallion: Beginning in 1959 all Bear bows had a coin medallion of one type of metal or another. Below are the approx date ranges for the type of coin used.

Copper Coin - 1959

Aluminum - 1960-1961

Pewter - 1962

Brass - 1963 - 1970

Nickel-Silver - 1971-1972

ALL coins were flush with the wood until 1972. In late 1972 the coin was raised above the surface of the bow and came in both gold and chrome covered plastic and are still used in Bear bows today.

7. Manufacturer Location: in 1978 Bear moved all manufacturing and offices to Gainesville, Florida. If your bow shows Gainesville on it then it was made after 1978

8. Model Of The Bow: Check the Model of the bow. Below is a yearly production chart for the most popular Bear Bows.

Black Bear 1972-1978

Little Bear 1965-1978

With this information you should be able to get really close to dating your Bear Bow if not pin-pointing it to the year.

If you are looking to price your bow I would suggest first logging into your ebay account and do a Completed Auction Search on the general keywords that match your bow, i.e. Bear Grizzly Recurve and see what has sold in the past 30 days.

-----------------------------------------------------

Our eBay Results: Within 6 hours of listing our 1965 Bear Bow by itself starting at .99 it had already reached 2.50 which was exciting but based on our research not surprising. What was surprising was that it stayed at 2.50 for the next 6 days. On the last day with 8 minutes left it was up to 2.50 with over 40 watchers. Usually on these types of auctions we tend to refresh and refresh and refresh the auction all the way to the end to watch the bidding but we got busy writing more listings and forgot. When we did remember to go back and check the auction it was over and had ended at 2.55

The other 2 auctions for the quivers and arrows sold for a total of .00. So our initial .00 Investment at an antique store ended in 2.55 in sales. That was almost a 0.00 profit (minus gas and eBay fees of course).

Emotional Abuse - Why Marriage Counseling Makes it Worse

If you live with a resentful, angry, or emotional abusive person, you have most likely have already tried marriage counseling or individual psychotherapy. You may have tried sending your partner to some kind of anger-management group. Let me guess your experience: Your personal psychotherapy did not help your relationship, marriage counseling made it worse, your partner's psychotherapy made it still worse, and his anger-management or abuser classes lowered the tone but not the chronic blame of his resentment, anger, or abuse.

Fortunately, you can learn something about healing from each one of these failed treatments, which we will examine next, one by one.

Why Marriage Counseling Fails

By the time most of my clients come to see me, they have already been to at least three marriage counselors, usually with disastrous results. A major reason for their disappointment is that marriage counseling presupposes that both parties have the skill to regulate guilt, shame, and feelings of inadequacy without blaming them on one another. If your husband could reflect on the motivations of his behavior - what within him makes him act as he does-he might then disagree with you or feel he can't communicate with you or feel incompatible with you for any number of reasons, but he wouldn't yell, ignore, avoid, devalue, or dismiss you in the process. If your husband were able to regulate his own emotions, your marriage counseling might have been successful.

Another strike against marriage counseling is manifest in an old joke among marriage therapists: We all have skid marks at the door where the husband is being dragged in. As you well know, men do not go voluntarily to therapy as a rule. So therapists tend to go out of their way to engage the man because he is 10 times more likely to drop out than his wife. If the therapist is sufficiently skilled, this extra effort to keep the man engaged isn't a problem, in normal relationships. But in walking-on-eggshells relationships it can be disastrous, because the therapist unwittingly joins with the more resentful, angry, or abusive partner in trying to figure out who is to blame in a given complaint. Of course he or she won't use the word, "blame." Most marriage counselors are intelligent and well-meaning and really want to make things better. So they will couch their interventions in terms of what has to be done to resolve the dispute, rather than who is to blame. Here's an example of how they go wrong.

Therapist: Estelle, it seems that Gary gets angry when he feels judged.

Gary: That's right. I get judged about everything.

Therapist: (to Estelle) I'm not saying that you are judging him-

Gary: (interrupting) Oh yes she is. It's her hobby.

Therapist: (to Estelle) I'm saying that he feels judged.
Perhaps if your request could be put in such a way that he wouldn't feel judged, you would get a better reaction.

Estelle: How do I do that?

Therapist: I noticed that when you ask him for something, you focus on what he's doing wrong. You also use the word "you" a lot. Suppose you framed it like this. "Gary, I would like it if we could spend five minutes when we get home just talking to each other about our day." (to Gary) Would you feel judged if she put it like that?

Gary: Not at all. But I doubt that she could get the judgment out of her tone of voice. She doesn't know how to talk any other way.

Therapist: Sure she does. (to Estelle) You can say it without judgment in your voice, can't you?

Estelle: Yes, of course I can. I don't mean to be judgmental all the time.

Therapist: Why don't we rehearse it a few times?

So now the problem isn't Gary's sense of inadequacy or his addiction to blame or his abusiveness, it's Estelle's judgmental tone of voice. With this crucial shift in perspective introduced by the therapist, Estelle rehearsed her new approach. Gary responded positively to her efforts, while the therapist was there to contain his emotional reactivity. Of course at home, it was quite another matter, despite their hours of rehearsal in the therapist's office.

In a less reactive relationship, the therapist's advice wouldn't be so bad. It's questionable whether it would help, but it wouldn't do any harm. If Gary could regulate his emotions, he might have appreciated Estelle's efforts to consider him in the way she phrased her requests; perhaps he would have become more empathic. But in the day-to-day reality of this walking-on-eggshells relationship, Gary felt guilty when Estelle made greater efforts to appease him. Predictably, he blamed it all on her -- she wasn't doing it right, her "I-statements" had an underlying accusatory tone, and she was trying to make him look bad.

By the way, research shows that therapists behave in their own relationships pretty much the same way that you do. In disagreements with their spouses, they fail just as much as you in trying to use the "communication-validation" techniques they make you do in their offices. They find it as tough as you and your husband do to put on the brakes when their own emotions and instinct to blame are going full throttle. After all, how is Mr. Hyde supposed to remember what Dr. Jeckyl learned in marriage counseling?

One popular marriage therapist and author has written that women in abusive marriages have to learn to set boundaries. "She needs to learn skills to make her message - 'I will not tolerate this behavior any longer' - heard. [The] hurt person [must] learn how to set boundaries that actually mean something." This is the therapeutic equivalent of a judge dismissing your law suit against vandals because you failed to put up a "Do not vandalize" sign. You have to wonder if this therapist puts post-its on valued objects in her office that clearly state, "Do not steal!"

Putting aside the harmful, inaccurate implication that women are abused because they don't have the "skill to set boundaries," this kind of intervention completely misses the point. Your husband's resentment, anger, or abuse comes from his substitution of power for value. It has nothing to do with the way you set boundaries or with what you argue about. It has to do with his violation of his deepest values. As we'll see in the chapter on removing the thorns from your heart, you will be protected, not by setting obvious boundaries that he won't respect, but by reintegrating your deepest values into your everyday sense of self. When you no longer internalize the distorted image of yourself that your husband reflects back to you, your husband will clearly understand that he has to change the way he treats you if he wants to save the marriage.

One of the reasons marriage therapy fails to help walking-on-eggshells relationships is that it relies on egalitarian principles. Noble an idea as it is, this approach can only work in a relationship in which the couple sees each other as equals. Remember, your husband feels that you control his painful emotions and, therefore, feels entitled to use resentment, anger, or abuse as a defense against you. He will resist any attempt to take away what he perceives to be his only defense with every tool of manipulation and avoidance he can muster. In other words, he is unlikely to give up his "edge" of moral superiority - he's right, you're wrong - for the give-and-take process required of couples' therapy. And should the therapist even remotely appear to "side" with you on any issue, the whole process will be dismissed as "sexist psychobabble."

Many men blame their wives on the way home from the therapist's office for bringing up threatening or embarrassing things in the session. Two couples I know were seriously injured in car crashes that resulted from arguments on the way home from appointments with therapists they worked with before I met them. I'm willing to bet that if you've tried marriage counseling, you've had a few chilly, argumentative, or abusive rides home from the sessions.

The trap that many marriage counselors fall into (taking you with them) is that resentment - the foundation of anger and abuse - can seem like a relationship issue. "I resent that you left your towel on the bathroom floor, because it makes me feel disregarded, like my father used to make me feel." But as we have seen, the primary purpose of resentment is to protect the vulnerability you feel (or he feels) from your low levels of core value. Please be sure you get this point: Low core value is not a relationship issue. You each have to regulate your own core value before you can begin to negotiate about behavior. In other words, if self-value depends on the negotiation, you can't make true behavior requests - if your "request" isn't met, you will retaliate with some sort of emotional punishment: "If you don't do this, I'll make you feel guilty (or worse)." Merely teaching the couple to phrase things differently reinforces the false and damaging notion that your partner is responsible for your core value and vice versa.

Many women live with resentful, angry, or abusive men who seem to the rest of the world to be "charmers." I've had cabinet secretaries, billionaires, movie stars, and TV celebrities for clients, all of whom could charm the fur off a cat, in public. Before they were referred to me, each one of these guys had been championed by marriage counselors who concluded that their wives were unreasonable, hysterical, or even abusive. They have no trouble at all playing the sensitive, caring husband in therapy. But in the privacy of their homes they sulk, belittle, demean, and even batter with the worst of them.

These men have gotten so good at charming the public, including their marriage counselors, because they've had lots of practice. Since they were young children, they've used charm and social skills to avoid and cover up a monumental collection of core hurts. Though it can be an effective strategy in social contexts, this masquerade falls flat on its face in an intimate one. If your husband is a charmer in public, his resentment, anger, or abuse at home is designed to keep you from getting close enough to see how inadequate and unlovable he really feels. In fooling the marriage counselor and the public at large, he makes a fool of you but an even bigger one of himself.

Why Your Psychotherapy Did Not Help Your Relationship and His Made It Worse
Research and clinical experience show that women in therapy tend to withhold important details about their walking-on-eggshells relationships. Most say that they're embarrassed to be completely honest with their therapists. One woman told me that she was convinced that her therapist, whom she thought was "awesome," wouldn't like her if she knew about the harsh emotional abuse at home. Though it is incredibly hard to believe, she saw that same therapist for five years without ever mentioning her husband's severe problems with anger and abuse. By the time I was called in, the woman was suffering from acute depression and anxiety that were destroying her physical health. When I spoke to the therapist, however, she had no clue about the abuse.

When therapists are aware that their clients are walking on eggshells at home, they feel almost bound to persuade the woman to leave the relationship. The most frequent complaint I hear from women who have undergone this kind of advocacy therapy is that they were reluctant to reveal the depth of their guilt, shame, and fear of abandonment to their disapproving therapists. Some have reported that their counselors would say things like, "After all he did to you, and you feel guilty?" I have heard hundreds of women report this kind of pressure from their therapists and have heard hundreds of therapists at conferences express exasperation about their clients' reluctance to leave their walking-on-eggshells relationships. The trainings I do for therapists worldwide always emphasize the utter necessity of compassion for their clients' enormous burden of guilt. Making hurt women feel ashamed of their natural (albeit irrational) feelings of guilt is intolerably bad practice. Compassion for her core hurts is the healthy way to help her heal her pain.

Despite these problems, your psychotherapy probably helped you a little, even though it did not help your relationship. Whether it helped your husband is another matter.
The goal of traditional psychotherapy is to reprocess painful experience in the hope of changing the way the client sees himself and his loved ones. If your husband's therapy unearthed painful experience from his past, without first teaching him basic emotional self-regulation, he most likely dealt with that pain in the only way he knew how -- by taking it out on you. He either seemed more entitled to display resentful, angry, or abusive behavior or used the pain of his past as an excuse for it. Here are the sort of things women hear from resentful, angry, or abusive men who are in therapy:

"With all I've had to put up with, don't you hassle me, too!"

"It's so hard being me, I shouldn't have to put with your crap, too!"

"I know I was mean to you, but with the pain I've suffered, you have to cut me some slack."

In defense of your husband's therapist, this approach is designed to make him more empathic to you eventually. But it takes a long time - a great many weekly one-hour sessions - before his sense of entitlement gives way to an appreciation of your feelings. And once he reaches that point, he has to deal with the guilt of how he's treated you in his "pre-empathic" years. For at least a few more months of slow-acting therapy, he'll feel guilty every time he looks at you. Without the skills offered in the Boot Camp section of this book, he'll either lash out at you for making him feel guilty or distance himself from the wrongly perceived source of his pain - you.
As we've already seen, marriage counselors have to make special efforts to build a working alliance with reluctant male clients. That formidable task is all the harder in the more intimate context of individual psychotherapy with a man who dreads exposing vulnerability, as just about all resentful, angry, or abusive men do. To establish and nurture this tenuous alliance, therapists will often employ a technique called "joining." He or she may validate your husband's feelings about your behavior, both for the sake of the therapeutic alliance and out of fear that he'll drop out of therapy, as most men do before making any real progress. Your resentful, angry, or abusive husband will likely interpret the best "joining" efforts of his therapist as reinforcement that he has been mostly right all along and you have been mostly wrong. To make matters worse, most therapists have a bias to believe what their clients tell them, even when they know that they're getting only half the story and a distorted half at that. This is a bit hard to swallow when you consider that many resentful, angry, or abusive men make their wives sound like Norman Bates's mother -- they're just minding their own business, when she comes screaming out of nowhere wielding a bloody knife.

If you were lucky enough to communicate with your husband's therapist - and that's something that most resentful, angry, or abusive men will not allow - you probably heard things like this.

"He's really trying, give him credit for that."

"As you know, he has so many issues to work through."

"We're starting to chip away at the denial."

The message to you is always, "Continue to walk on eggshells and hope that he comes around."

Why Anger-Management Didn't Work
Research shows that anger-management programs sometimes produce short-term gains, and that these all but disappear when follow-up is done a year or so later. That was almost certainly your experience if your husband took an anger-management class. They are especially ineffective with men whose wives have to walk on eggshells.

The worst kind of anger-management class teaches men to "get in touch with their anger" and to "get it out." The assumption here is that emotions are like 19th century steam engines that need to "let off steam" on a regular basis. These kinds of classes include things like punching bags and using foam baseball bats to club imaginary adversaries. (Guess who would be the imaginary victim of your husband's foam-softened clubbing?) Many studies have shown conclusively that this approach actually makes people angrier and more hostile, not to mention more entitled to act out their anger. Participants are training their brains to associate controlled aggression with anger. Could the designers of these programs really think women would be pleased that their men learned in anger-management class to fantasize about punching them with a foam bat?

Of course, there is a much better alternative to both "holding it in" and "getting it out." In the Boot Camp section of this book, your husband will learn to replace resentment, anger, and abusive impulses, with compassion for you.

Hopefully, your husband did not attend one of these discredited classes on anger expression. But you might not have been so lucky when it came to the second worse form of anger-management: "desensitization." In that kind of class your husband would mention your behaviors that "push his buttons," things like you "nagging" him. The instructor would then work to make those behaviors seem less "provocative" to him. The techniques include things like ignoring it, avoiding it, or pretending it's funny. Didn't you always dream that one day your husband would learn to be less angry by ignoring you and avoiding you or thinking that you're funny when you ask him about something serious?

Core hurts -- not specific behaviors -- trigger anger. If the class succeeds in making your husband less sensitive to you "nagging" him, he will nevertheless get irritable when you tell him you love him, as that will stir his guilt and inadequacy. Most important, you don't want him to become less sensitive to core hurts. Quite the opposite, as he becomes more sensitive to them, he will be more sensitive to you, provided that he learns how to regulate his feelings of inadequacy by showing compassion and love for you, which the Boot Camp section will help him to do.

Desensitizing doesn't work at all on resentment, which is the precursor to most displays of anger. Resentment is not simply a reflexive response to a specific event, to something you say or do. Resentment arouses the entire nervous system and works like a defensive system itself. That's why you don't resent just one or two or two hundred things. When you're resentful, you are constantly scanning the environment for any possible bad news, lest it sneak up on you. Anger-management classes try to deal with this constant level of arousal with techniques to manage it, that is, to keep your husband from getting so upset that he feels compelled to act out his anger. "Don't make it worse," is the motto of most anger-management classes. If he was aggressive they taught him to withdraw. If he shut down, they taught him to be more assertive. What they didn't teach him was how to stop blaming his core hurts on you and act according to his own deeper values. If attempts to manage anger don't appeal to core values, resentful men begin to feel like they're "swallowing it," or "going along to avoid an argument." This erodes their self-esteem and justifies, in their minds, occasional blow ups: "I am sick and tired of putting up with your crap!" Then they can feel self-righteous: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

In a love relationship, managing anger is not the point. You need to promote compassion, which is the only reliable prevention of resentment, anger, and abuse.

Trying to follow that pencil mark as you cut long stock with a circular saw can be tricky. The mark might blend with the stock if it’s painted, making it difficult to see. And certainly, there’s sawdust to contend with when it comes to keeping an eye on the cut line. Anyone experiencing these troubles will appreciate the laser guide on this 7-1/4-inch circular saw from Black & Decker. The saw’s on-board laser extends a bright, visible line across the work surface, offering a perfectly straight and highly visible cut line that’s easy to follow. The saw is powered by a beefy, 13 amp motor that spins the blade at 5,000 rpm’s, providing plenty of speed and torque for cross cuts and rips through all types of wood. The saw cuts smoothly through material up to 2-3/8 inches (the tool’s capacity at 90 degrees). With an angled cut of 45 degrees, the saw cuts stock up to 1-13/16 inches thick. Bevel adjustments from 0 to 45 offer accurate angled cuts. And, a calibrated depth-adjustment fine-tunes quickly and locks solidly for cuts through materials of varying thicknesses. Best of all, ergonomically designed front- and rear-assist handles with soft grips mean comfort and control on extended jobs and help stabilize the saw for tricky vertical cuts. The purchase is covered by a two-year manufacturer warranty. --Brian D. Olson

7 Social Media Marketing Campaign No-Nos!

I am consistently seeing more and more companies using Social Media Marketing to help improve their brand awareness and sales, and I think it is great to see more people engaging the masses. As many of these companies begin to put their toe in the water of Social Media Marketing, it is just as important to know what not to do, as it is to know what to do.

7 1 4 Saw

So here is my list of top 7 Social Media Marketing No-No's:

7 1 4 Saw

1. Using every single blog post, tweet, or Facebook update to try to sell your product.

Social media is a conversation, not a sales pitch, become the expert, give away some free information and engage with your customers on a personal level.

2. Finding the person in your company with the most Facebook followers and saying, "hey, you spend a lot of time doing this, you can do it for the company."

There is much more to a Social Media Campaign than just having followers, while it is important, the followers need to be relevant and the expected end result should not be the most followers, but targeted followers, interested in having a conversation with your company. Hire a Social Media Expert!

3. Lose sight of your objective

Many people forget the objective of Social Media Marketing is to increase a company's bottom line. Make sure you are seeing an increase in leads and sales through your efforts. Again it is important to not berate your followers with sales offers during the process.

4. Expecting it to work tomorrow

It takes time to build a loyal following, and increase your brand awareness, do not expect to double your company sales in 2 weeks, give it time (although you should see increased activity, more hits, more fans, etc... quickly).

5. Not being involved No one knows your company better than you do. While there are some great article writers out there, it is a good idea for you to write your own blog post, or submit enough information for someone to write one that will be engaging. You will not get as good of results if you do not assist in the process.

6. Thinking all you need is a twitter account, Facebook account, and blog

While these are important aspects of a Social Media Campaign, it is important to realize that there is much more that goes on. These sites need to be linked to each other, you need to be using more outlets, and you need to be updating consistently. Sites need to be bookmarked; you need to do article submission, building an email list, and so much more.

7. Ignore it! (Maybe the most important)

You've gone through all the trouble of setting everything up, maybe even started to gain some followers, but then you just give up. All you are telling you customers is "hey, we are not going to follow through!" The other part is you may be just on the brink of success when you throw in the towel, so keep plugging along!

7 Simple & Free Ways to Help Others on Your Journey to Happiness

Happiness is a state of mind. It is not measured by the number of material possessions that you have, or by how much money is in the bank. You can have all the things in life that you need and want, but that does not necessarily make you happy.

7 1 4 Saw

There are many people in large families with very little money, but they are happy with their lives. It cannot therefore be money or material possessions that bring happiness.

7 1 4 Saw

I believe that it is the small acts of kindness and caring that you show to others that really makes the difference to your happiness levels.

Here are 7 simple ways to help others, and it costs nothing! Do these acts willingly, and your happiness levels will soar!

1) Always give this special gift to people - your smile! Not only will this cheer you up, but the most important thing is that you will have cheered others up!

2) Ensure that you have a positive attitude, and this will rub off on those you meet. Once this happens, there is no stopping the spread of positive feelings to those they meet!

3) As you walk along the street, look for opportunities to help others. Is there a mother trying to open a door while carrying shopping and holding onto her children? I'm sure she would appreciate you opening the door for her! This is a very simple act of kindness, which can make all the difference to that person's day.

4) Don't forget your friends and family! They are the most important people in your life. Compliment them whenever possible, and always be willing to lend an ear if they have problems.

5) If you haven't seen a friend or relative for a while, give them a ring to see how they are doing. Don't wait for them to contact you first!

6) Meet with your friends regularly and have a good long chat with them. Share a few amusing stories to make each other laugh!

7) Give thanks for everything you have in your life. Thank others when they do something kind for you!

These simple steps will place you further along the road to happiness. By giving of yourself, you will receive so much in return. Happiness is ultimately about giving, and not about what you possess.

 • Rear pivot depth of cut adjustment allows your hand to remain behind the tool at all depth of cuts
 • Powerful 15.0 Amp, 2,075 MWO motor made for long life and difficult applications
 • Heavy-gauge, high-strength aluminum alloy base for increased durability on worksite
 • 50 degree beveling capacity increases capacity in various applications
 • Electric brake stops blade after use

Christmas Sales DEWALT DW364K 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw with Electric Brake Overview

This DeWalt circular saw is a rugged tool designed with professional carpenters' needs in mind. It has a 15 amp motor that produces a whopping 2,075 watts, which is equivalent to 2-3/4 horsepower. In less scientific terms those numbers mean this saw can slice through lumber like a tornado through a trailer park. If that's a little too fast for you, it also comes with an electric brake for quick stops. The generous 5-1/2-inch base pivots for depth of cut and bevels on a ball-joint mechanism that offers smoother, faster adjustments than the simple hinge arrangement typically found on other saws. It has a bevel capacity of 0 to 50 degrees, and--like the depth-of-cut gauge--the bevel gauge can be easily recalibrated if the saw takes a tumble on the job. Depth-of-cut adjustments are made by unscrewing the front handle a bit, adjusting to the desired depth, and screwing it back down tight. This operation is so smooth it can be done without even changing your grip on the saw, reducing downtime between cuts. The saw's construction is solid throughout and it should live a long life, even on the toughest job sites. Blade changes are quick, thanks in part to the easy-to-reach shaft lock button; however, onboard storage of the blade-changing wrench would be an improvement. This is a great tool for serious professionals in need of serious cutting power. At 12.3 pounds, it isn't the lightest model available, but big power doesn't come in small packages, and 7-1/4-inch sidewinder circular saws don't get any burlier than this. --Brian Trinen

Christmas Sales DEWALT DW364K 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw with Electric Brake Specifications

The DEWALT 7 1/4-Inch Heavy-Duty Circular Saw features a unique rear pivoting point for setting a depth of cut while keeping hands behind the machine at all times. This heavy-duty circular saw has a powerful 15.0 Amp motor and a heavy-gauge aluminum alloy base for a long tool life and maximum durability on even the roughest of job sites. Other features include an electric brake that safely stops the blade after use, a versatile bevel capacity of 50 degrees, and a heavy-duty kit box for securely transporting and storing the machine.

Big Brother 7 - Lisa is Evicted

Lisa Huo became the fifth housemate to be evicted from the Big brother house after she was voted out ahead of Nikki Grahame, Imogen Thomas and Mikey Dalton in a four-way tussle.

7 1 4 Saw

As soon as Grace was given the boot last week, Lisa was odds-on favourite at 4/5 to be next person out of the door with the bookmakers expecting nominations from Aisleyne, Richard, Susie and Pete for the foul mouthed unemployed upholsterer from Manchester.

7 1 4 Saw

Big Brother introduced a twist this week for nomination-discussing rule breakers Glyn, Imogen, Lea, Lisa and Nikki who were not be allowed to nominate in the normal fashion. Instead, they each had to nominate one member of their group, on the spot, in front of everyone else. They were not allowed to discuss their choices or nominate themselves and the housemate with the most nominations would automatically face eviction via the public vote. The voting went as follows:

Glyn and Lisa nominated Nikki, Imogen voted for Lea who returned the favour and Nikki voted for Lisa. With two nominations Nikki faced eviction for the third successive week.

The rest of the housemates - Aisleyne, Mikey, Pete, Richard and Susie were allowed to nominate as usual in the privacy of the Diary Room. As Nikki was already put up for the public vote, the remaining housemates were not allowed to nominate her, which saw Imogen, Lisa and Mikey thrown into the eviction mix.

By Monday night, Lisa was 1/4 favourite for eviction, despite the remainder of the nominated housemates not being revealed officially until Tuesday evening.

Lisa's price shortened considerably as the day's neared Friday's eviction night until she was trading at 1/100 so it was no surprise when host Davina McCall announced she was evicted.

Lisa appeared to be expecting to leave as she reacted well with a typical mix of smiles and good natured profanity, hugging each of her housemates in turn and repeating select phrases including "sorted mate", "mint", "take it easy" and "have fun".

Following a few weeks where housemates have received landslide eviction percentages - Grace polling 87.9% and of course Sezer's 91.6%, Lisa received a more respectable 60.3% of the vote considering she wasn't trading at odds-against once during eviction week.

Big Brother's latest twist will see five new contestants entering a secret "second" house next Friday. The new house, accessible via the diary room, features its own bedroom, kitchen, lounge, bathroom and garden area.

Instead of voting to evict a housemate next week, the public will instead choose one housemate to "save" but live with the five newcomers in the new house.

The Freud D0724X's clean-cutting design means that you can enjoy the comfort of smooth performance. The thin 0.59-inch kerf between the blade's 24 ATB (alternate-top bevel) teeth is laser cut to provide ease of feed, so you have more control over each blade's position. This helps maximize both the accuracy of the cut and the efficiency of your work, so you can enjoy a job well done and the ability to complete more tasks in less time.

An added bonus, the blade's laser-cut stabilizer vents will reduce noise and vibration during operation, keeping your work environment more relaxed and your hands more in control. This feature also reduces friction to the blade, helping extend its cutting life.

Features Shock-Resistant Carbide for Long-Lasting Precision
So you can count on it over the long term, the Freud D0724X is designed for durability. The blade's hardy teeth are protected by Freud's exclusive shock-resistant TiCo Hi-Density Carbide formula, which helps fight wear and tear and maintains blade sharpness up to four times longer than standard carbide. And protecting the blades is a Perma-Shield Non-Stick Coating that provides resistance to heat and corrosion.

Fits Circular Saws
The Freud D0724X is a great addition to your workshop because it is designed with the versatility to fit a variety of circular saws.

This product is covered by Freud's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

The Scroll of Revelation - 4 - A Revelation of Jesus Christ

Commentary on Revelation 1:12-20

7 1 4 Saw

The candlesticks. (1:12, 20) What John sees first upon turning around is a vision of the seven churches, represented, according to Jesus, by seven golden "lampstands" called "candlesticks" in other versions. The seven churches then, and all churches with them, are seen as potential bearers of Light. It is important to keep this in mind when thinking of the vision of our own "local" assembly. The church is to be a light "on a hill", a beacon for the community to see, a place where Jesus' true character can be manifest in word and life.

7 1 4 Saw

It is not merely coincidental that the lamp-stand of the Jewish Temple, aka the "menorah" (Exodus 25:31-40) had seven individual lamps on it, seven lights representing the fullness of God's character, but manifested through His people on earth. Such is the character of these seven churches that they represent all the strong and weak points of the Christian people of all times. There is not a church in existence to this day that cannot draw instruction from one or more of these letters, even feeling it is being addressed personally to them! Such is the living nature of these correspondences. One need look no further to discern some "mystical" meaning, some supposed "church ages". All seven churches are in very age known to man.

One like the Son of Man. (1:13-15) Ezekiel saw such a Man (Ezekiel 1:26) And Ezekiel more than any other Bible man except Jesus, is also referred to as "Son of Man" by the Lord. What does it mean? A representative of mankind that pleases God? A true man among men? Daniel wears the title in Daniel 8:17, but also sees "one like the Son of Man" coming with the clouds (Daniel 7:13). Notice that in Daniel, in Revelation, and in all the Gospel references to Jesus as being the Son of Man, the definite article is used, separating Jesus from the others who may seem to have the same title. (Luke 7:33-34, 9:58, Mark 8:31, 14:21, all refer to The Son of Man.) Stephen calls upon that Son as He dies (Acts 7:56).

So how is Jesus the Son of Man? The prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 9:6) talks of a Son to be born who will also be the Everlasting Father. It is "Unto US" that this Son will be born! He is OUR Son, born of a virgin. The Son of God indeed. But mankind's Child also. Our purest, our finest, our "favorite Son".

Now this is not the first time that John has seen the glorified Christ. He, his brother James, and of course Peter once trekked to the top of a hill with Jesus and there Christ was transfigured before them. John has also seen the risen Lord, even to the point of His ascension into the Heavens. But this vision is different somehow. This is glory that is beyond anything John has ever seen. And it has the same effect on John that it did on Daniel 700 years earlier. In fact, there are many similarities to point out between these 2 men and their visions.

Both Daniel and John are being held by the State when their visions occur. Both men are quite elderly. Yet both men had a vibrant relationship with God from their youth. Both have overcome evil for many years, and been a blessing to many. Both are told the future. But it is the vision of Christ in His glory that is their finest moment. Let's look at the Man they saw, and compare notes.

Jesus commissions and comforts John. (1:16-20) The stars in his hands (v 16, 20) are said to be the "angels" of the seven churches. Now, the Book of Revelation is filled with angels, from that special angel known as "His angel" in verse 1 to the angels of the seals, trumpets, and bowls, to the angels guarding the pit, and even to fallen angels. Knowing this, we believe that the Spirit would not seek to confuse us here by having "angel" suddenly mean "pastor" or "Preacher". I believe it is always safe to stick with what is written. angellos is nearly always translated "angel" in the New Testament. Only in the translating of Malachi's prophecy regarding John the Baptist (Matthew 11:10) does it ever refer to anything but angelic messengers.

You say, wait! That would mean that each of the seven letters to follow are written by John first to an angel? And the angel then speaks to the church? That could well be. Just like the entire book came to John through the ministry of angels. Angels take their orders from God. And God here is speaking to them through a Spirit-filled human, while they deliver the message from God's mouth to John.

It was angels who communicated the coming destruction of Sodom, Genesis 19:1. They met Jacob in 32:1. I have documented the very busy life of the "angel of the Lord", and how He communicated often the word of the Lord to God's men. Angels were active in Jesus' life and in the lives of the men of Acts. Paul mentions his catching up to glory, where we are sure he was ministered to by angels. The Book of Revelation then just follows suit and is likewise an angelic book. Here we are given the details of a specific message they are given to pass along to the Church. The job of a messenger, after all, is to pass on messages. They pass the message on to John, he writes it, and they take it on to the churches.

See again verse 1, "[Jesus] sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John." The seven messages to the churches come first from God, through Christ, then John is directed to write the message to the specific angels watching over particular congregations. How the angels enable the particular saints involved to hear the message of the Spirit, is not given us, and it seems we get a little too curious when we want to go beyond what is written. Enough to be content with the network of angels protecting God's people individually and corporately. Enough to know that the Law (Gal 3:19) and probably the entire Bible was communicated in some way through the ministry of angels. Enough to believe that we are encompassed about with an innumerable company of angels, yes and by the grace of God one day we shall judge those angels that fell.

For the record, also, John was the "Pastor" of the Ephesian Church, and would not be writing a letter to himself! (2:1) And, never are leaders of the church (always spoken of in the plural by the way) called "messengers" in the writings of John or any of the other epistles.

Comfort. (1:17-20) John's counterpart Daniel had similar problems with the Vision of his day: (Daniel 10:8) "...no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength..." As for John, he falls at Jesus' feet "as a dead man". Who can comprehend the glory He saw and felt at that moment?

Jesus simply tells him to be unafraid, and then further identifies Himself. There's the secret! Not strengthening ourselves, but knowing Who Jesus is, that is how we recover from our bouts with fear. When we know we are in His will, we can face whatever we need to face.

Here is a clear definition of His Deity for those who need one, such as the cultists who continue to prey on God's people. This One Who died and rose is the First and Last. He has the keys of Death. He is eternal. What need we more witness? He is God Almighty!
