Happiness is a state of mind. It is not measured by the number of material possessions that you have, or by how much money is in the bank. You can have all the things in life that you need and want, but that does not necessarily make you happy.

2) Ensure that you have a positive attitude, and this will rub off on those you meet. Once this happens, there is no stopping the spread of positive feelings to those they meet!
3) As you walk along the street, look for opportunities to help others. Is there a mother trying to open a door while carrying shopping and holding onto her children? I'm sure she would appreciate you opening the door for her! This is a very simple act of kindness, which can make all the difference to that person's day.
4) Don't forget your friends and family! They are the most important people in your life. Compliment them whenever possible, and always be willing to lend an ear if they have problems.
5) If you haven't seen a friend or relative for a while, give them a ring to see how they are doing. Don't wait for them to contact you first!
6) Meet with your friends regularly and have a good long chat with them. Share a few amusing stories to make each other laugh!
7) Give thanks for everything you have in your life. Thank others when they do something kind for you!
These simple steps will place you further along the road to happiness. By giving of yourself, you will receive so much in return. Happiness is ultimately about giving, and not about what you possess.
